The ninjas got to me before New Year's! Man, these are all over the place. Basically, here you have the ones that made me laugh, the ones that made me cry, the ones that made my inner writer say OOH, the ones that are about pairings or characters that clearly need more fic, and the ones that caught my fancy. I didn't say a whole bunch about each of them, but you may trust me, these are the best ones. According to me. At various times of day and sensibility. They're all awesome, anyway! I recced maybe...one in four? One in five? Of all the yuletide stories I read. So I definitely reached my goal of reading 300 stories, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was more like 400. 78 recs, 53 fandoms.

I am very, very far behind on my comments--I know a lot of you have answered my questions about racial appropriation with a great deal of thoughtfulness, which I appreciate so much, but this week it was suddenly SCHOOL EVERYWHERE, so while I very much hope to reply in the same thoughtful vein, it might not be for a little while.
As far as SCHOOL EVERYWHERE goes, I have actually made progress on my honours thesis! I tried to write it and it was painful, it was so bad. I mean, I felt awful. So I emailed my advisor and suggested a new plan of attack--both to him and to myself, really. I was the one who needed a good swift kick, and by telling him my problems and what I planned to do about them, I helped myself actually start. So I've read ninety pages of Gender Trouble in the last three days and I'll read the other sixty in the next two days and then, at the very least, I'll have something to talk about with him when we meet. This--actually sitting down with work and doing it--is progres, so I am happy.
My other classes are sad about being neglected, however. Angst, whine, etc. And now on to tonight's House. Sadly, because of SCHOOL EVERYWHERE, I wasn't in a very thinky place when I watched it, but I still have a few ( spoilers. ) |
